Overview
The Quotation Bank had already built a strong reputation through its printed study guides for GCSE and A-Level English Literature. Its content helped students learn quotations, themes, and analysis in a clear, practical way.
The opportunity was not to reinvent that method. It was to translate it properly into a mobile product.
The product needed to preserve what already worked, while making the experience easier to access, easier to return to, and better suited to regular day-to-day use.
The outcome was a habit-driven mobile product that supports daily engagement and establishes a scalable, subscription-based learning platform.
This marked a shift from a print-first product to a scalable digital platform.
The challenge
The core revision method was already proven. The real challenge was product definition.
The Quotation Bank needed to turn a successful printed format into a digital subscription product that felt natural on mobile, encouraged repeat use, and could grow over time without becoming difficult to manage.
That meant making early decisions about how students would engage with the content, how value would be delivered on an ongoing basis, and how the underlying platform should support future growth. The product had to stay simple for users while remaining flexible behind the scenes.
What needed to be solved
Two questions shaped the product early on.
The first was engagement: how should revision content be presented in a way that fits naturally into a student’s routine?
The second was commercial: how should the product be structured so that a subscription model makes sense over time?
These were not separate problems. Solved properly, they could reinforce each other.
Our approach
We worked closely with The Quotation Bank from an early stage to define the product around a simple idea: daily use.
By structuring the experience around short, repeatable interactions, we could make the content easier to engage with while also creating a rhythm that supported ongoing subscription value. Rather than overwhelming users with too much at once, the product delivers revision in a format that feels manageable, familiar, and worth returning to.
This gave the product a clear direction early. It also helped keep the scope focused. Every feature had to support clarity, consistency, and repeat use.

What we built
A mobile experience designed for consistency
We built a cross-platform mobile product for iOS and Android using React Native, designed around short revision sessions that students can pick up easily and return to regularly.
The interaction model is intentionally simple. Quotations, themes, and analysis are presented in a clear, predictable way, helping students focus on revision rather than navigation. The product does not rely on unnecessary complexity. It gives students a straightforward experience that supports habit-building over time.
A content platform that can scale
Alongside the mobile app, we developed a secure CMS that gives The Quotation Bank team full control over content creation and management.
This matters because the value of the product depends on the quality and growth of its content. The platform needed to make that sustainable. Content can be created, structured, and updated without developer involvement, allowing the product to evolve quickly as the offering grows.

The result
The Quotation Bank now has a digital product that extends its established revision approach into a format that fits modern student behaviour. The app is live on iOS and Android and gives students a clean, distraction-free way to engage with revision more regularly.
The platform also supports a subscription-based model by delivering value through ongoing, structured engagement. Content can now be expanded continuously without increasing development overhead. This establishes a digital product alongside the existing print offering, creating a foundation for long-term growth.
Why it worked
This was not just a case of turning printed material into an app.
The value came from making the right product decisions early: defining a repeatable interaction model, shaping the experience around real user behaviour, and building the supporting platform in a way that keeps the product maintainable as it grows.
That is often the difference between software that launches and software that lasts.
Ongoing work
With the app now live, The Quotation Bank continues to expand its content offering and refine the product over time. We continue to work together on that next stage, building on a foundation designed for long-term use rather than a one-off release.
